The Idea
Surface's scoring engine is author-blind by architecture — the AI has no concept of who wrote something. A brilliant essay by an unknown writer receives the same rigorous multi-dimensional analysis as one from a famous journalist. Quality rises. Reputation is irrelevant.
How It Works
Content sources are polled continuously. Each new item passes through a multi-dimensional AI analysis engine that evaluates quality across six independent dimensions and applies topic labels.
Scoring
Each item is independently analyzed across six quality dimensions: Novelty — how original are the ideas? Idea Density — how many valuable insights per unit of content? Surprise Factor — does it challenge assumptions or reveal unexpected perspectives? Practical Value — can you act on what you learned? Intellectual Depth — how thoroughly is the thinking developed? Personal Relevance — how well does it match your interests? These six dimensions combine into an overall quality score and tier (S through D). The scoring is completely objective and author-blind — the AI evaluates only what was written, never who wrote it.
